Underwater Yahtzee

The thought of playing Yahtzee for 8 hours may seem like a tall order for some, but couple this with an underwater environment and you have yourself a World Record attempt. A group of divers from Sweden are taking Yahtzee to the depths of their Tropicarium on January 31st 2011!

They want to not only attempt a world record by playing as many games of Yahtzee underwater, estimated at around 8 hours, but they want to alert people of the Project AWARE Give Shark a Fighting Chance campaign. PADI Course Director, Mikaela Sjölin said, ‘We will continue until the air is empty’. The divers will have dual 18 L232 Bar Steel tanks and will play as many rounds of Yahtzee in the shark pool as they possible can in 8 hours!

Historical Meeting Results in Creation of Rebreather Association

PADI and the world’s major CCR manufacturers came together at the DEMA Show in Las Vegas, USA on 17th November to hear PADI’s vision of where rebreather technology may head in the future and to receive an outline of PADI’s new CCR programs due for release in 2011. The Meeting was chaired by Mark Caney - Vice President of Rebreather Technologies (PADI Technical Diving Division). PADI was also represented by other PADI Technical Diving Division Executives including; Terry Cummins (Director Market Development), Karl Shreeves (Director of Decompression Diving) and James Morgan (Director of Advanced Wreck Diving). Pascal Dietrich Technical Consultant at PADI Europe and Jeff Nadler of PADI Americas were also in attendance.

Over 30 executives representing the cream of the world’s CCR manufacturers were present, including AP Diving, Diverite, Dräger, Hollis/Oceanic, KISS, Innerspace Systems, Micropore Inc, Poseidon, Shearwater, Silent Diving, Titan, Revo and VR Technology.
One of the most exciting outcomes of the meeting was the decision by the manufacturers to form the Rebreather Education and Safety Association (RESA) to set a higher degree of cooperation amongst CCR manufacturers. It is intended that this group will also address manufacturing standards and some of the issues that will make their products more appealing to a greater audience.

2011 Individual Membership Renewal

Believe it or not; the 2011 renewal process is on its way.

Many of you have signed up for Automatic Renewal. You do not have to do anything. We will process the Automatic renewal around 29th of November.
For those of you who have not signed up for Automatic Renewal, or don't remember if you have, we have some great news. You can still sign on and save money (compare prices below) There are 2 options to do so:

1.Log on to the new Pro site at padimembers.com. Go to "My Account", and find the link to "My Auto Renewal". Click on the link and follow the instructions. You will be notified when your renewal is processed. You can expect this notification early December. Should there be a problem, you will be notified by e-mail, and you will have to renew online.

2.In the Online Renewal form, you can click the Automatic sign up box. The renewal fee will then be changed to the lower online price, and you will be registered in the Automatic renewal option.

We will launch Online Renewal as usual. Go to padimembers.com and click on the link for Online Renewal 2011 as soon as it is available. (Remember to sign up for automatic renewal and take advantage of the reduced fee.)
The last option is the good old manual way. If you for some reason are unable to use Automatic Renewal or Online renewal, you must contact us. We will help you in your renewal process. With manual handling via invoice, an additional fee of SEK 100,- will be charged.

För att stimulera och uppmuntra vrakfotografering så bjuder marinarkeologiska enheten
MARIS vid Södertörns Högskola och föreningen P2-Svenskt Vrakskydd in till
vrakfotoseminarium lördag den 13:e november i Södertörns Högskolas lokaler i Flemingsberg(Stockholm Syd).

Det är en gratis tillställning som består av en serie halvtimmesföredrag relaterade tillundervattensfotografering av vrak, med avsikt att vara en inspirationsdag för fotointresseradepå olika nivåer, både för totala nybörjare och erfarna fotografer. Tillställningen är inte enkomplett utbildning, utan skall ses som en möjlighet att upptäcka nya områden relaterade tilluv-fotografi, kunna få tips och råd, höra på intressanta föredrag, samt även träffa andralikasinnade personer.

Dagen börjar kl 09:00 och slutar kl 17:30, där i ingår även två kaffepauser och lunchpaus.
