Sharks at danger!!

Sharks are in trouble and we need your help!

Project AWARE is launching an exciting petition on World Oceans Day 8th June demanding that Governments worldwide take action for sharks and increase their protection.

In March 2010, Governments ignored scientific evidence and advice in favour of short-term economic interests at the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES). They failed to give eight threatened shark species the trade protections they deserve.

Project AWARE is asking for some help to kick our petition off! Take two minutes and sign the petition: www.projectaware.org/givesharksachance

You can share the petition with your friends, family etc etc to help build our movement for shark protection.

New Online Services from PADI Nordic

We are glad to announce the new PIC Online and Student Replacement Card Online.
The PIC Online is now available for individual members in addition to PADI Dive Centers and Resorts. You will find the PIC Online under Online Services in the new padimembers.com.
One of the features in the new PIC Online solution is to choose Project AWARE C-cards. The Minimum donation to Project AWARE is SEK 75,-. You must use a Credit Card to pay the AWARE donations.
In order to certify students online, you will have to purchase Online PICs from the office. If you have paper PICs in stock, contact Urban Edlund (+46 (0)31 80 88 43), and we can help you replace the paper PICs with Online PICs.
The Student Replacement Card Online is available from padi.com. The diver can choose from standard, Limited Edition and different Project AWARE cards. If you would like to take a look at this new feature, click the link below, and enjoy. No cards will be made unless payment is completed.
Link to: Replacement Card Online. http://www.padi.com/scuba/scuba-certification-cards/default.aspx
A nice benefit with Student Replacement Card Online is the fact that students easily order a new card if they want a different photo, they want a Limited Edition card or whatever reason they might have. Normally students only change their cards only if they lost the old one. A part of this process is to print a Temporary Card when the new C-card is ordered. This will be handy for traveling divers who discovers they cannot find their c-card the day before a trip.

Refresh and Review Scuba Knowledge Online

PADI Scuba Tune-Up Is Online Now - Student Price $50
How many times have you heard, "I'm a certified diver, but it's been a little while since I was in the water"?

For divers who's scuba knowledge is a little foggy: Scuba Tune-Up online is a convenient option to review diving fundamentals.
If you're a PADI Dive Center, you'd be crazy not to plug Scuba Tune-Up Online

There are thousands of divers who feel insecure about their basic dive knowledge - but may not openly admit it. At $50, Scuba Tune-Up is the online equivalent of an impulse buy. Catch their attention with a link on your homepage or in your e-newsletter. For example:

Quick: Answer the Following....What are the five steps in a pre-dive safety check?
What is the maximum depth limit for recreational diving?
What are the signs and symptoms of decompression sickness?

If you're unsure how to answer one or more of the questions above: it may be time for a scuba tune up! You can get started online (your eLearning link goes here) for $50.

The online course is performance-based, you'll take a series of short quizzes to evaluate what you remember from open water. Correct answers will allow you to complete the course quickly. For incorrect answers, you’ll read a brief explanation to help refresh your memory. A pool training session completes the scuba review (your price here). Price includes a scuba review decal for your certification card.

-----
Scuba Tune-Up + Confined Water Skills Review = SCUBA TUNE-UPThe online program uses interactive videos to review basic dive skills, but urges participants to visit a dive center or resort for inwater practice (and to learn about the latest updates in dive equipment). The online course also includes a segment on diving with Enriched Air - to promote continuing education with your business.

Want to preview the new course?PADI stores and Instructors who've previously purchased an Access Pass can preview Scuba Tune-Up online. Here's how:
